One of the most popular requests that I get is for help with nutrition for weight loss. The Health Survey For England (2019) estimates that over 50% of the population is overweight or obese in England, so it’s no wonder that this is such a prominent consultation request.
There are a million and one diets out there that all ‘claim’ to lead to weight loss. Often they’re complicated, expensive and contradict each other. The bottom line is that they’re not sustainable. The simple principle behind weight loss is to burn more calories than you consume – resulting in a calorie deficit. But, what’s really important here is understanding what calories you’re putting inside your body, as these hold the power to accelerate or hinder your weight loss journey. For example, a chocolate bar and a slice of wholemeal toast with peanut butter may have similar calories to them; but your body will respond to them in very different ways.
With my 1:1 Coaching I teach you the simple principles behind eating for weight-loss. To kick off the programme you will have a 60 minute video consultation to discuss your goals, challenges and history around weight-loss. We’ll also talk about your lifestyle and relationship with cooking to ensure that the meal plan I pull together suits you – otherwise it just wouldn’t be achievable for you. For many people this is ensuring that their meals require minimal preparation time so they can be eaten around a busy schedule. After this consultation you will receive a bespoke meal plan each week.
The secret to my programme is the education aspect that comes over the following weeks. From the initial consultation we will select some key areas that can help you reach your goals. For some this is understanding macros (proteins, fats and carbohydrates), for others this may be more focussed on skills around batch cooking or even portion size. The beauty of this is that it’s tailored to you and your weight-loss journey – something which fad diets cannot do.
